We hereby would like to inform you that the final of the 10th edition of the DNC which was supposed to be held from the 8th to the 11th October in Sao Paulo, Brazil is postponed.

This decision, taken after careful consideration, is clearly linked to the global developments in the pandemic influenza A H1N1.

Even though it is difficult to disappoint the kids, the safety and wellbeing of all participating children of the Danone Nations Cup is the absolute priority for Danone. We are fully aware of the involvement of all the children in this sporting event, primarily through the national tournaments held throughout the year and especially the dream that their participation in the World Final represents for them.

We also understand the disappointment of the parents and all the partners for whom this event is an exceptional dream.

Nevertheless our commitment on behalf of our partners and children, for whom this event is an exceptional dream, is to organize the World Final to 2010 in the best conditions.
Therefore, the World Final of the Danone Nations Cup is delayed until 2010, and not cancelled, so that your child can live this sportive and human adventure.
This is only a postponement, so join us in 2010, the year of the Football World Cup!
We will inform you about the new date very soon on the DNC Website.

Danone Nations Cup is organized every year since 2000 with the purpose of fostering in children, from both Turkey and other countries, a passion for sports while entertaining them. Danone Nations Cup which is held with the participation of 2,5 million children from 40 different countries every year says “Believe in your dreams” to the children.

The MoE (Minister of National Education) - Danone Kids Football Turkey Championship, which has become the biggest kids’ sporting organization, is carried out with the cooperation of the Ministry of National Education since 2003. Our children proudly represent Turkey at the international final game within the organization.

“MoE Danone Kids Football Turkey Championship”, which has started with the initial participation of 900 schools, has reached its record level participants in 2008-2009 school terms, with 140.000 children from 9000 schools taking part in the games. The event encourages children to engage in sporting activities and promote team spirit with an increasing number of children participating each year. Our stars have achieved a significant success by taking the third rank in The Danone Nations Cup Final held in Lyon - France in June 2007.

MoE Danone Kids Football Turkey Championship gives thousands of children coming from various parts of Turkey the opportunity to enjoy the football game while promoting fair play, teaching them to take defeat with dignity, applauding their opponent’s success, and virtues of respect for one another and sharing. The children get to learn about the technical rules of football, and merits of fair play within the context of an organization. They also get to experience the exciting atmosphere of an international organization at Danone Nations Cup Final and play against one another with a fair manner.

Apart from the famous and experienced football players such as Rıdvan Dilmen, Metin Tekin, Ali Çoban, Hamdi Mandıralı and Ogün Temizkanoğlu who undertook the technical directorship of the juniors in recent years, Ömer Kaner will be this year’s prominent name to encourage kids to “believe in their dreams,” a veteran from the football fields who trained numerous successful football teams such as Eskisehir and Pogon Szczecin.

On the other hand, with Pelé, Platini and Maradona, the world-famous caretakers of DNC, and Zinedine Zidane, deemed one of the most prominent names in the history of football, had made last year’s “MoE Danone Kids Football Turkey Championship Turkey a more colorful event with their actual presence. Zidane had stated that he was very happy that he had the chance to meet with Turkish children and to give support for their future dreams at Danone Nations Cup, the first and only worldwide children’s sports organization open to students aged between 10 and 12, and approved by UEFA and FIFA.

The finals of Danone Nations Cup, which embraces a total of 2,5 million children, was played in September 5th through 7th in Paris, and Danone Turkey Juniors Team had won the “Best Offensive Team” award.

The juniors seem to be all set and ready for a big challenge, who will compete in the finals through 9th -10th and 11th of October in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

DANONE ULUSLAR KUPASI
